Iran’s Economy
The Islamic Republic of Iran with an area of 1،648،196 sq.km and nearly 76.03 million populations has been located in South- West Asia. The country neighbors with Turkey and Iraq in west, Afghanistan and Pakistan in East, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan in North and Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates and Oman in South through Persian Gulf and Oman Sea. Therefore, Islamic Republic of Iran, as a strategic country, has got common borders with states of ESCWA in South and West, SAARC in East and CIS and Caucasus as well as UNECE in North. The country is regarded as one of the richest countries in hydrocarbure reserves, so that it ranks the second for gas reserve and its export as well as the second for exporting crude oil in the world. According to the reports of the international institutions like the International Monetary Fund, Islamic Republic of Iran, with having more than 495.69 billion dollars GDP, ranks 28th in the world economy, eighteenth and sixteenth for population and area respectively.

petroleum, petrochemicals, fertilizers, caustic soda, car manufacture, parts, pharmaceuticals, home appliances, electronics, telecom, energy, power, textiles, construction, cement and other construction materials, food processing (particularly sugar refining and vegetable oil production), ferrous and non-ferrous metal fabrication, armaments.
Mineral Statistics:
Iran is the fifth richest country in the world in terms of natural resources such as oil, gas, coal, war and wood, gold, silver, copper, uranium, crude iron and phosphate, With one percent of the world's population, it has more than 7 percent of the world's mineral resources. Iran holds some of the world’s largest deposits of proved oil and natural gas reserves; Iran is also the fourth richest country in the world in terms of fossil fuel reserves, fourth in oil reserves, second in natural gas reserves. Iran also ranks among the world’s top 10 oil producers and top 5 natural gas producers.
And published statistics on global gold reserves show that Iran is the twentieth richest country in the world in this regard.
In the production of one third of the world's agricultural products, Iran is among the top 10 countries in the world, i.e. the second largest producer of dates and pistachios, the third largest producer of apricots, cherries, peanuts, walnuts and watermelons.
Iran is the fourth largest producer of figs, kiwis, cucumbers, berries, the fifth largest producer of eggplants, vegetables, the seventh largest producer of tomatoes and the ninth largest producer of grapes.
